These tests have particular application to design of building structures, bridges, support for industrial equipment, etc.

Our Competitor Sampling Rig rig combines the functions of in-situ testing and extraction of samples for laboratory testing. The rig can drive sample tubes into all soil types.

The weight and the drop height are adjustable, enabling Standard Penetration Tests and Dynamic Probing (Lost Cone) Tests to be carried out as well as soil sampling. Blow rates up to 50 per minute can be achieved when driving sample tubes into the ground.

Testing can also be carried out under hard surfaces as our equipment is designed for coring through concrete or other hard surfaces at ground level. We are able to work in collapsible soils as casing tubes can be driven into the ground at the same time as the soil samplers. As well as preventing collapse of the borehole, the method ensures that there is no cross-contamination between successive samples, even when sampling very loose ground. Rotary diamond core drilling is carried out using a 220HP fully hydraulic drill rig. Rock cores (PQ & NQ) can be extracted from 300m depth

Our work is carried out under the direct supervision of a geo-technical engineer, and laboratory testing facilities are available to provide a comprehensive service. All our tests are conducted in accordance with British Standard BS 1377.
